For the second time in two months a BMC member has aced the seventh hole!
This page has already highlighted the hole-in-one, also on Number 7, recorded in May by Chris Reeves in Wednesday League play. The second ace in as many months was carded by Kevin Lawless in a Tuesday League match held on June 28. Although Kevin’s hole-in-one was difficult to observe from the tee box, the ace was immediately confirmed by the roar from the group ahead, as they watched from the 8th tee. Kevin’s 6-iron shot bounced once towards the back-right hole placement and rolled into the cup. Notably, the roar from the 8th tee was nearly equaled by the enthusiastic congratulations offered by Kevin’s Tuesday League opponent, Greg Johnson, whose fate was all but sealed by Kevin’s hole-in-one (the second of Kevin’s career). Which proved, among other things, that Greg is able take as well as he can receive—having himself holed out in a previous Tuesday League match, making birdie on the second hole, to pave the way to a hard-fought victory against yours truly.
After the match, Kevin’s stirring ace was loudly celebrated by the entire 19th Hole contingent of Tuesday League participants, word having spread quickly about his feat. As dictated by tradition, Kevin picked up the drinks tab, conservatively estimated at almost $200. And making his ace even more special, Kevin has credited his wife, April Egan, as having inspired his memorable shot, April having recently recorded her first-ever ace on number 17. This incredible tandem of Braemar aces, we believe, makes this couple the BMC’s first-ever Pair of Aces!
Congrats to Kevin—and to April too!
