Club Championships
Saturday & Sunday | August 1st and 2nd
Over the course of 2 glorious summer weekend days of early August, close to 60 of our BMC brethren competed for our Club Championships. The winners of the Senior Championship, Men’s Flight, Men’s Senior Flight and the Super Seniors are all listed below. But, the Granddaddy of them all is our over all Club Championship.
These guys play from the Castle tees, which stretches the course to over 6900 yards. On some holes, I’d probably hit a wedge to the A tees and proceed from there. Or purposely hit it in the junk and take a drop.Anyway, these guys got serious game and it showed over the weekend.
2 players emerged going into the back side on day 2. Defending Champ Drew Gumlia found himself in a battle with newcomer Matthew Chandler. Mr. Chandler had a 1 stroke lead going into. 15, where both players bogeyed. Might have been due to the somewhat large gallery that had gathered. Going to 16, Matt was on the right side of the fairway, pondered a 255 yard stab at getting there in 2. Being the leader, and after lengthy deliberation, decided against that and laid up down the fairway.
Drew had no question about going green bound in 2. Unfortunately, where the ball wound up made for a nearly impossible eagle and a questionable birdie. Both players parred.
On 17, both hit the green. Mr. Chandler, putting first, proceeded to drain a 30 footer for bird which seemed to seal the deal. Mr. Gumlia, however, had other plans and proceeded to drain his 20 footer in response.
Onto 18. Chandler up 1. 2 good drives. 2 good approaches. Chandler first with a 20 footer with a 4 foot break to claim the win. Just wide. Now Drew with 15 feet to tie. And, again just missed.
Our Champ is Mr. Matthew Chandler. After the round, Drew lamented something like “4 under should win this thing”. This year, one less stroke was needed.

Please join your fellow members for the 58th Annual BMC Club Championships August 1st-2nd. As was the case last year, the BMC Club Championship will be played in conjunction with Braemar Golf Course Club Championship. This means you can enter 2 tournaments for the price of 1. When you register for the Club Championship, you are playing for prize money offered by both events, for 1 entry fee.
The tournament includes divisions for Men, Women, and Juniors. The Men begin Saturday August 1st with all divisions competing on Sunday August 2nd. Braemar Golf Course will provide tee sheets, score-keeping, unlimited range balls, and a challenging course set-up. Lunch and Beverages will served both days courtesy of Red River Kitchen Food Truck.

- Men’s Championship Flight – Gross Only (Championship Tees)
- Men’s Flight – Gross & Net (E Tees)
- Men’s Senior Championship Flight – Gross Only (D Tees). Age 55 and over.
- Men’s Senior Flight – Gross and Net (I Tees). Age 55 and over.
- Men’s Super Senior Flight – Gross and Net (N Tees). Age 65 and over for BMC Members only.
BMC Awards: Men’s Championship flight is awarded by BMC with winner added to the Past Champions Board.
Gross winners from all flights receive a traveling trophy. Gross and Net winners from all flights receive Braemar Golf Course gift credits on their account courtesy of our sponsoring organizations.
BGC Awards: Men’s Championship and Men’s Senior Championship flights are awarded by Braemar Golf Course with winners added to the Past Champions Board. Gross and Net winners from all flights receive Braemar Golf Course Merchandise Gift Cards.
